Team fortress 2 files not validating

Rated 4.95/5 based on 750 customer reviews

Well, my computer as a whole has been a little wonky lately (taking a full minute to load up a song in VLC player, for instance) so I'll give it a shot.

So, when I want to play TF2, it comes up with a window saying that "Steam if validating files".

In the end, though, I assure you it's worth it because now I don't have to sit through that annoying pop-up!

Hope I helped a lot of others too : DI have this problem, I think we're boned until valve launches steampipe as The Qless mentioned.

So **** it, I'm just going to reinstall the entire game for the FIFTH TIME to see if that changes anything.

I don't have access to any TF2 maps in Gmod, so my guess is that something messed up when installing (I did get a random blue screen right the **** out of nowhere today when it was at 100% (with 100% apparently not meaning it's done) so that could be it). What I did:-Backup Local Files to an external memory drive-Delete all local content-Restore the back up-Play TF2Considering you reinstalled a bunch of times, not sure it'll work.

This process will take quite a while, and don't cancel it.Updates to Counter-Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted.Stack Exchange network consists of 175 Q&A communities including Stack Overflow, the largest, most trusted online community for developers to learn, share their knowledge, and build their careers.Visit Stack Exchange Steam want to validate the cache of Team fortress 2, everytime I launch it, pretty darn irritating. I can't support an issue specifically with regard to Windows 8 so if that's the issue, the only solution that I can propose is to wait until this software is officially supported on Windows 8. The following is based on my own experience with Steam doing this to me for TF2 and a similar case can be found here When I first installed TF2 some time ago on a Windows Vista install, it exhibited this behaviour for me. By defragmenting my disk and my game, I managed to resolved the issue.
